The growing trend over the last few years and especially this past year, has been toward green. The issue that my wife and I have been running into is that, although we want to be greener, we are sometimes limited due to cost.

Well, there are couple of entrepreneurial college students at U of Missouri – Columbia who are trying to do something about the cost part. Seems like they feel that going green should be reasonably priced. The have kicked of a business called Factory Green (factorygreen.com) and they sell “Energy-Neutral” products, which are also organic and fair trade. The t-shirt and other products they sell are all produced in factories run on solar or wind generated power. Pretty rad.

One of the things I like most about the company is that they also make sure all of their products are fair-trade. This means that everyone working for the companies where they source their goods are paid a fair wage in fair conditions. No child labor, etc. You can dig it.

Some of the other cool things…all shirts are designed by college kids, the company so far has been run by college kids. They have fast shipping (received by shirt in two days). This green effort is being led by a couple of guys (Daniel and Jack) who care, not some mega corporation trying to make themselves and their shareholders feel better or caving under external pressure.

The company hasn’t spend much on marketing or publicity, but they’re getting talked about in the eco-trades. Keep it up guys.

Check ‘em out. I have. Oh, and tell your friends.
