1stbirthdaycakeWow it’s been a year already? How cool is that? A year ago I’m not sure I would have beat you that we’d still be doing this show today. But, great guests like Paula Berg continue to agree to be on the show and we continue to be humbled that great people like you tune in to listen to each interview.

We work pretty hard to provide fresh topics and find thought-leading guests for each show, and we can say honestly that we enjoy each conversation very much.

So, from the bottom of our hearts, here’s a big thank you to each guest that has been on any of the 46 shows we’ve done and here’s an equally big thank you to each of you who have listened in or checked out a blog post or two. You are all amazing.

Berg, PaulaNow, let’s talk a little bit about our guest. Paula Berg leads the emerging technology and social media activities for one of our country’s leading brands, Southwest Airlines. This is a big deal for us to say considering we are based in Milwaukee, home of Midwest Airlines.

Our interest in having Berg on the show is three-fold. 1) She works with a brand that is doing many great things in terms of branding and social media; 2) She will be one of two main keynote speakers at the PR + Social Media Summit @ UW-Whitewater on Wednesday, Oct. 14th [full disclosure = Comet Branding is co-hostin this event]; and 3) Southwest Airlines will be the latest entrant into the Milwaukee air travel game on Nov. 1st joining other major carries Midwest and Airtran among others. We will discuss these three elements in the show.

After brief stints selling beer on Phish tour and working for the Colorado and United States Senates, I woke up and smelled the jet fuel and began my career here at Southwest Airlines. Since joining the Southwest Airlines family in 2001, I have served in a variety of communication roles, but for the last several years my time and energy have primarily been focused on harnessing social media tools – like this blog – to improve Customer communication.  We launched Nuts About Southwest in April 2006 and have since expanded our efforts to a variety of online channels including Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube.  We continue to incorporate social media into every aspect of communication in a way that makes sense for Southwest and meets your expectations.  Any suggestions?  Let me know!
