Time flies when you’re having fun…
You may already know that Comet has moved. Today is our first day in the new space in The Mercantile Building at 220 East Buffalo St. #402 in Milwaukee’s Third Ward. It’s an exciting time and one of evolution. This move has led me to think about how Comet has grown and the many happenings of the last few years.
On that same note, today is also the first day that we won’t spend in our former office space located in Walker’s Point. Comet spent two full years at 900 South Fifth St. in an upcoming neighborhood that is alive with great restaurants, culture and creativity.
Our first space in the building was an understated 400 square feet. After six months we moved across the hall to a 1,300 square foot space where we remained until this past Friday.
A lot has change in the two-plus years since moving into Walker’s Point: Comet is now four people strong and soon to be more; Social media is more than buzz term; Milwaukee’s Creative Class is coming together in new ways; Walker’s Point is growing and Bayview has exploded.
In addition, the Third Ward continues to drive a stake in the ground as the epicenter of the creative industry in Milwaukee. Within seconds of our desks are: About Face, Purple Onion, Hanson Dodge, The Baylor Studio, The Eisner and many, many others.
On some level it’s sad that we’ve left Walker’s Point – the place where Comet found its footing – but, it’s also very exciting to have found a home in the Third Ward. We’re happy to be here.
Now, what will the next several years hold for all of us? Kind of exciting to think about isn’t it?
