Comet Branding visits BlogWorld and New Media Expo 2009

Last week, Sara Meaney and I took some time to travel out to Las Vegas for BlogWorld. It was an interesting trip to say the least. For starters, we had the opportunity to meet many of the PR and social media thought leaders that have been on the Comet Branding Radio Show in the past. We also had the chance to meet a bunch of other smart people.

If you have never heard of BlogWorld before or missed it this year, we highly recommend making the time for it in 2010. We had the chance to sit in on many great sessions and presentations. However, the most exciting part was the opportunity to sit (or stand) and really talk live about some of the new media elements that are and will drive business forward for the foreseeable future.

As Arik Hanson mentions in his BlogWorld Recap, many people have done recaps so far. Here are some that we have come across: Jennifer Kushell (Huffington Post), Nathan Hangen, P Morgan Brown, SocialMedia.biz, Josiah Mackenzie, Aaron Strout, Ken Yeung and David Armano. One thing that we tried to do while we were there was to capture some video of the smart people we met. We started with Arik Hanson, with whom we have corresponded via Twitter and blog posts in the past. Arik is a great guy who just launched his own business and we wish him luck. Our next conversation was with Jason Kintzler, founder of the social media-powered PR tool, PitchEngine. He has been on the Comet Branding Radio show a few times to talk about social media news releases and social media newsrooms. He’s doing some cool things at PitchEngine…big news coming from him in a week or two. Here is our interview with him at BlogWorld:

After hanging out with Jason for a bit, he started telling us about a product called Filtrbox that he thought was really cool. Jason introduced us to Ari Newman, the founder of Filtrbox who gave us a nice introduction to the product. We liked what we heard so we had him on the radio show on Wed., 10/21 to chat about it more. Another cool interview that we captured was with Greg Ferenstein an expert blogger with FastCompany.com/Fast Company Magazine. He shared some great insight into blog strategy. He also shared some thoughts about some things that work well and a few that don’t.
