Presentation: How To Create Your Personal Brand Through Social Media

July 6th, 2010 | By Laura Gainor | Posted In: General

On July 1, 2010, I had the opportunity to be the inaugural keynote speaker for Full Sail University‘s Student Branding Society, presenting on personal branding and to tell the story of how I was hired at Comet Branding + PR. Full Sail course director, Robert Croll, and Ryan Mickley, who had the vision to create the student branding society, have done a great job with creating an inspirational group for those seeking ideas on expanding their network and personal brand.

I was honored for this opportunity to complete the “Laura Gainor Utilizing Social Media” story and showcase the various events that occurred in such a short time to bring me to Comet Branding.  I left the group with tips on how they can start creating their personal brand through social media and build their network. This is a topic I’m very passionate about and hope I can make an impact on job seekers to help them find their dream job.

    Laura,

We were honored to have you. Thanks again for a great presentation that really helped generate enthusiasm about personal branding among the students.

I have no doubt that your story inspired a few (most) of them to start thinking about ways they can develop and leverage their own personal brands. We can only hope that future presenters for the group come close to the high bar you set!

Thank you Rob. It was my pleasure presenting to the group. There were many great questions on personal branding. I look forward to staying in touch and following the group. Best wishes!

Ok I have to say I am more than impressed…really at everything I have seen and read here. Laura, way to go!!!

I am a presentation consultant…which basically means I help people who have a message to communicate in presentation form, communicate it most effectively. I CONSTANTLY remind my clients think about who you are talking to. What will catch their attention, what will get them to notice, and most importantly what will give them to remember you or what you have to say. And I have to say the way in which you approached this job search process was a perfect example of what I try to get my clients to do in their presentations. From what I saw, and Al and Sara can probably attest to this, you spoke their language, you showed them that you were like them, you proved that you matched them in their level of creativity, and you mirrored who they are…but at the same time you were yourself and got your message/need across. I can’t say this enough this is the perfect example of how to communicate your message to match your audience.

So once again I have to say…way to go!!!

Hi Michael. I really appreciate your comment on my presentation and strategy to get hired at Comet. Social media is amazing with the tools it provides everyone to get their message across in a quick and creative way, while reaching a large audience. It sounds like you offer a lot of great advice to your clients.

Thank you for taking the time to send me a comment. Have a great day!
