Over the weekend my wife and I stopped into the Apple Store at the nearby Mayfair Mall. She was very impressed by the MacBook Air. Amazed by its thinness and lightness.
Well, it was my turn to be amazed today when I read on the WIRED Blog Network that reporter Steve Levy who was reviewing an Apple-loaned MacBook Air for Newsweek threw it out in the trash. He claims it might have been his wife who did the actual trash-canning. I recall a different apple causing a husband to lay blame on his wife.
There are several comments floating around the internet remarking that the machine is so light and thin that it’s now easy to throw away. In a way it’s funny. I’m thinking that if I dropped $2,000 on a MacBook Air that I’d make sure I knew where it was and not slide it into any interoffice envelopes either.
I do appreciate though, that this publicity will likely sell more MacBook Airs. People won’t be turned off by the chances of throwing it away. They will however realize how remarkable this machine is if it can be mistaken in a stack of magazines and tossed. Must really be light.
